Introducing The World After Dark Creative Team / by Shannon Litzenberger

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

At 5:23pm tomorrow, December 21st, we will experience the apex of the 2018 Winter Solstice - the moment when Earth's axis is at its maximum tilt away from the sun. The moment when we experience the shortest day and the longest night. For me, it is a poetic moment to be wrapping up another rich rehearsal period in preparation for my new production (coming up March 6-9 at Harbourfront Centre!)

World After Dark is all about night - that magical time between sunset and sunrise.

The creation of new work is rarely a solo endeavour and as a developing choreographer and director, I consider myself lucky to be working with a truly exceptional group of performers and creative collaborators. World After Dark performers include Linnea Swan, Louis Laberge-Côté, Syreeta Hector, Emily Law, Nikolaos Markakis and Kathia Wittenborn, with narration by Irene Pauzer and Dan Wild

The work features an original sound score by John Gzowski, a beautiful series of video animation designs by Elysha Poirier, set and lighting concepts by Ken MacKenzie and scintillating costumes by Alexandra Lord.

Based on Christopher Dewdney's popular book Acquainted with the Night, the text used in the show has been selected, adapted and arranged by writer and dramaturg Guillermo Verdecchia. Outside eyes Gerry Trentham and Marie-Josée Chartier have offered invaluable guidance and creative insight.

I hope you'll take a moment to read about these incredible people.

And then, go ahead and buy your tickets! (also a fabulous last minute Christmas gift idea...)

Wishing you a dark and lovely night,

Shannon Litzenberger
